23-24 School Year Updates: Bibi

Bibi has faced tremendous challenges but continues to work hard in school. She is starting her first year in a vocational sewing program that has led to successful employment opportunities for other Hope Sparked students.

Bibi has had extreme health challenges, most recently with tuberculosis which was near fatal. She has moved around to several locations with family members who did not have sufficient income for a stable place to live. She currently lives with an aunt who remains in Mabulu through the difficult flooding conditions we’ve shared about in previous posts. They have put stilts on beds to try to keep them out of the water, but Bibi also suffered a severe infection in her leg from the conditions. Despite this hardship, she continues to perform well in school and maintain hope for a better future.
