Over the next few weeks, we’ll share updates on each of students for the school year – starting with Ryan.
Despite the challenges of the last few years, Ryan’s attendance at school has been much more consistent than so many children in Mabulu. He continues to live with his mother, sister, and a younger brother. His mother encourages his education while many families in the area prefer their children trying to earn money on the streets rather than going to school. School is challenging for Ryan and his mother does not have the skills to help, but Hope Sparked’s tutoring program has given him the support to be much more successful than most children in his situation.
Here are some throwbacks from Ryan: pictures a couple years ago in class with the blue jersey and with his siblings wearing clothing made by one of Hope Sparked’s alumni! Also check out this video of Ryan seven years ago!
