Molendeke Ketia

Our next student profile is 14 year-old Ketia. She lives with her father and eight children, without a mother.  She has not been in school for three years and has been helping her father work to support their family. Two of her sisters already have children that live in the home as well. The picture to the right shows Ketia doing work very common in the area, crushing rocks into gravel by hand to sell for construction. Like so many others in Mabulu, she is trapped in a cycle of poverty with little hope of a better life.
