Official 501(c)(3) Status
Hope Sparked is now an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our tax-exempt status was approved by the IRS and is effective as of September 21st. All donations from that date forward are tax deductible. We are very grateful to those who were willing to donate before this important formal step was complete, and are very excited

Great News
We now have 15 students enrolled in school. We have asked the families of our first 10 students to do whatever they can to support their children’s education, even if it is only a few supplies or a few months of tuition. With these extra resources, we have been able to stretch our initial funds

KISAKA BOB
Our next student profile is for 12 year-old Bob. His father is unemployed – not uncommon with unemployment somewhere around 50% in the country. His mother sells sugar cane to try to support their six children. Bob has not been able to attend school for three years. He hopes to find work as a driver

One step closer…
Hope Sparked is now officially incorporated as a charitable organization in Pennsylvania and registered with the IRS. The application for tax-exempt status has been filed. Your donations aren’t tax-deductible quite yet, but we’re one step closer.
MANDELU NEVI
