Enock
Our next student profile is Mbedia Seraphi Enock. He is one of our newer students and we don’t have a lot of information about him yet. He just turned 12 years old, and finished first grade with help from Hope Sparked last year. Obviously he is behind and hoping to catch up. He lives with his grandmother who makes a living selling whatever vegetables she can grow around their home (which you can see behind him). During the dry season or any time the the vegetables don’t grow well, they have little or no other income which is why Enock has never been able to attend school regularly.
He has not yet learned to write well, but asked for help writing a letter to a potential sponsor. His simple words are a powerful reminder when the enormity of the problems we face in the world become overwhelming. “Ne vous fatiguez pas de nous aider…” (Do not get tired of helping us…). He goes on to express his profound desire as a 12 year old boy trying to learn basic literary, “…à être des personnes utiles dans la société,” (to be useful people in society). Sometimes finding a way to help can seem tiresome and overwhelming, but when young children are looking for the resources they need to improve their own community, helping provide an education for $30 a month seems like a simple and important step. If you can help, visit our sponsorship or donation page.
