Giving Season
As #GivingTuesday kicks off the season of giving, please consider supporting the education of a child in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through Hope Sparked. Our annual fundraiser will run through Christmas to raise enough funds to support 14 students through this school year.
If you’re not familiar with Hope Sparked, check out our About page and What We Do, watch for updates on our students over the coming days, and consider a donation if you’re able.
The students supported by Hope Sparked have faced considerable challenges over the last few years. In addition to the long disruption due to COVID-19, flooding in the area has become more common and pervasive. This flooding, seen in pictures below, has occurred several times in the last two years and is usually followed by pervasive malaria outbreaks which are extremely disruptive to education and employment. Hope Sparked has struggled to get many of our students attending school regularly through these conditions, which have also impacted our staff and volunteers. We have not run an annual fundraising for a few years as existing funds were sufficient to provide for the needs of the few students who could still attend school. We have regained some stability and are excited to continue our work with 14 students in school for the 2023-2024 school year.
