Lifalanga Moma Ruth
We have a quick video update from Ruth, who is starting her third year of studies with Hope Sparked. As you can tell from the video, she is very shy. Her father and mother are both unable to provide for her, so she lives with her aunt who tries to make a living selling bread. There are a few bread factories in Kinshasa where people buy all they can carry directly from the factory and then sell them throughout the city streets, typically from large baskets carried on their head. This is one of many ways people try to scrap together a living with limited employment prospects.
Ruth had been out of school for three years when her family couldn’t pay the school fees before Hope Sparked was able to provide resources for her education. She is now beginning the sixth grade and hoping to find steady employment as a seamstress. Please check out our donation page or matching program if you would like to make a commitment to her future.
